Ethnographic collection in Črna

The former post office building houses the ethnological collection, which bears witness to the life, work and housing culture of Črna’s inhabitants and local farmers through artefacts from the 19th, and first half of the 20th century. The collection of 230 exhibits was first set up in 1978 for the 23rdČrna Tourist Week. These valuable artefacts were acquired by the municipality from collector Miro Prodnik. Marija Makarovič, PhD, and students from the Department of Ethnology at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana took part in the expert processing of materials. Collection encompasses everyday objects, various items of home furnishings (a chest, clocks, kitchenware etc.) and various tools, complemented by old photos and their enlargements. Due to a change of the exhibition’s layout in 2000 the majority of exhibited objects were restored in the restoration workshop of the Carinthian Regional Museum.

The museum offers professional assistance.
