Leta 1888 so stavbo temeljito prezidali, naročniki prezidave niso znani. Z odstranitvijo vogalnih stolpičev so bistveno okrnili stavbne sestavine.

Gradišče nad Slovenj Gradcem – the Gradišče Manor

(HRN 161)

The Gradišče Manor, standing on the eponymous hill above Slovenj Gradec, was built between 1588 and 1595 by Žiga Wolf pl. Gaisruck. He also transferred the seat of the Dominion of Slovenj Gradec there – it was at Rotenturn before that. After the original owner, several others took their turn: the Himmelbergers, the Gaisrucks, Baron Hans Pfeilberg, Baron Albert Kronegg, Baron Salomon Branečki, Sei ed Wallner, Baroness Zo ja Maschwander, Baroness Katarina Jabornegg and Count Ernest Thurn; after 1820, Gradišče was administered by the local peasantry. In 1888, the building was completely rebuilt; it is not known, on whose orders. With the removal of corner towers, the outline of the building was substantially impaired. On Vischer’s picture and on Reichert’s lithography of the castle from 1864 (album “Einst und Jetzt”), the corner towers are still visible. Their former existence is probably suggested by the clipped-o western corner of the building. From the time of rebuilding, an outline scheme “Umbau von Schloss Gradisch” is preserved, which foresees ordering the balcony on the main façade and rebuilding the turret on the roof above the central avant-corps. The manor’s balcony has been preserved, but in a very simpli ed shape. Despite its rebuilding, the manor is a building of exceptional quality in a dominant location. Its retained Renaissance outline with a courtyard is unique in this area. The single-storey building is today composed of the central object with its balcony, the somewhat shifted side tracts to the east and west, and the stone walls; all of which together enclose the courtyard. The ground oor rooms are vaulted, while the upper oor mostly has ceilings with wooden beams; the two oors are connected with a staircase inside an extension.
